The Rev. Gayle Catinella found a beautiful backdrop in a park plaza in San Diego, CA, while she was visiting a friend in Los Angeles. Gayle says travel helps to fulfill her love of adventure.

How long have you lived here? 6 years

Do you have any pets? I can hardly take care of myself.

When you are not working, how do you like to spend your time? Traveling, reading, cooking, quilting, adventures.

Why did you join Rotary? I was moved by your commitment to kindness and service.

Why do you remain a Rotarian? Definitely the people.

Which Rotary Project resonates with you and your understanding of our community's needs? Operation Warm. There is so much basic need in our community.

What does Rotary's motto "Service Above Self" mean to you? It is a lifestyle, a commitment of heart and head that requires community.

What would you be doing on Wednesdays if you didn't attend the weekly luncheon meeting? Working.

Which type of Rotary socials do you prefer - black tie affairs or casual attire?  Any excuse to get together is good enough for me.

A Rotary tradition is to have sing-alongs during meetings.  Would you ever lead us in a song? Probably not but thank you for asking.

What do you think of Scott Schulick's Rotary pants, and would you wear a pair? I completely respect Scott's right to be himself; no further comment.

What's a story of yours that you don't get to tell often enough? As someone who is not from Youngstown, friends mean a lot to me. I like adventure. That means travel, eating at new restaurants, seeing sites I have never seen, trying new recipes, and occasionally, home improvement. Most adventures are worth sharing, and I love it when I can be with friends, new and old, who are fun and interesting and willing to take risks. Rotary is a place to make those friends, and so I am grateful for all of you!
