PROFILE: REBECCA MOTTRAM

A personal referral led Rebecca “Becky” Mottram to becoming the new secretary of the Rotary Club of Youngstown. “Scott Schulick recommended the position to me and I saw an opportunity to work with great people for a great reason,” says Becky, of Lowellville. She received her orientation from Mary Slaven, RCY’s recently retired secretary. In Becky’s opinion, Rotary’s “Service Above Self” motto means “being sensitive to the needs of those around us and doing whatever possible to improve their situations,” she said. Mahoning County is her home because “I was born here. After I was married, my husband and I both worked here, raised our children here and retired here. It’s a great place to be,” she said. Becky grew up in Poland, graduated from Poland Seminary High School, and attended Youngstown State University. She earned a first year certification as a trust officer at Cannon Trust School in South Carolina. She was a trust officer and vice president of operations for Butler Wick Trust Co. and then for Farmers Trust Company when they bought BWT. She is retired from Farmers Trust. Becky and her husband, Dan, have a son, David, and daughter-in-law Sonya; a daughter Amy, and son-in-law Dan; and four grandchildren, Joey, Laini, Joshy and Sara. “I love family gatherings, and spending one on one time with my grandchildren,” she said. “I really enjoy working outside and taking in the beauty around me in all four seasons. I love interaction with friends, Bible study, old movies and reading. Recently I started documenting our family history.” Asked to tell a story about herself, “I’m just a sinner saved by grace!” she replied. “I am so blessed to have been born when I was, where I was and to whom I was. I had awesome parents who brought me up with strong discipline, Christian values and above all, unconditional love. I am so grateful for all the lessons I was taught and the examples I was shown. That heritage is more valuable than gold and I strive to pass that on to my children and grandchildren.”

Welcome, Becky!
