Gerry Sullivan moved that the slate of officers and directors for 2021-22 be adopted as presented by the Nominating Committee. David Stillwagon seconded the motion. Motion carries viva voce by those present in-person and on Zoom.

Recently reading a message bySalva Dut, the subject of Linda Sue Park’s A Long Walk to Water, I learned about Rotary’s work in Sudan: “Special thanks to the Board of Water for Sudan, and to the Rotary Clubs that have worked closely with me.”
Salva is one of the Lost Boys who finally made his way to the United States. He returned to his country to dig wells for villages in which water had to be carried from such a distance that children in his village and others could not go to school, the day spent instead walking to groundwater and then back to their village home, to bring water was polluted.
I highly recommend the book for your teenage children as well. Helping others to make a difference is Rotary at work in the community and in the world.
This story, like all issues of Rotary, expand our knowledge of the places in which Rotarians are at work and of the variety of professions and work that others do that are essential to our well being. We encourage you to make time to read it.

If there was ever a handbook for effective community volunteerism you could bet that our own Suzanne Fleming would be the author. In addition to her career as a nurse (retired), wife, and mother, this longtime Rotarian has found a way to help many parts of the community. January 10, 1947: Youngstown Vindicator reporter Esther Hamilton, who covered Rotary Club of Youngstown weekly meetings on her beat, was made an honorary member of Club.
District Governor Linda Henderson wrote toencourage all Rotarians to look at the lessons of the recent pandemic as a "learning experience" noting that we have learned skills that we will continue to use even after the pandemic.
"We learned to use our time better by using Zoom. How cool is it that we can have speakers from all over the country do live programs and even answer questions. We can connect all of our members even if they can’t leave their desks at lunch time, even if they are not able to leave home due to age or illness, or even if they winter in Florida."
She concluded by encouraging all Rotarians to make 2021 the best year ever. "We have missed being together. We have recharged our energy and are ready to expand Rotary’s mission. ... Make plans, open your hearts, spread your wings and fly. It is a new year and it will be a great one for Rotarians everywhere."
