This month Rotary International has asked us to focus on the impact we can make on the wealth and growth of our community. Explore this topic with us at our meeting Wednesday at noon at MVR
Plus President Samantha was presented her first Paul Harris Fellow and Don Foley received his second. Named for Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris, the Paul Harris Fellow is Rotary’s highest honor. Congratulations Rotarians!
We can only hope that this is a sign of the energy and growth we can look forward to in 2021!
During these stressful times, it is especially important for us to remember that as Rotarians we are called to be agents of peace. This week's speaker, Jesse McClain, spent 24 years in education teaching English at Boardman Center Middle School. Although he was involved in many organizations during that time, he is widely recognized for his specialty in Holocaust education. Looking to the Future
Last week I called attention to Rotary’s work to provide clean water in Sudan. Just how important this work is underscored by the fact that more than a billion people do not have access to clean water. Read about Rotarian efforts to address this problem in Ghana (“One Step at a Time”), Ecuador (“Our Clubs: Rotary E-Club of Washington”), and India (“ Mark Bala”) and needs here at home (“Water”).
These stories, like all those in Rotary, expand our knowledge of the places in which Rotarians are at work and of the variety of professions and work that others do that are essential to our well-being. We encourage you to make time to read it.

Paul Garchar says his community service was inspired by childhood memories. “As a young individual, I benefitted from community individuals reaching out to my family and helping us in a time of need. So as I became an adult, I wanted to give back in some way,” he told The Business Journal. Paul chose RCY and served as president during the club’s centennial anniversary celebration in 2015. He literally is a man of constant motion, as he explains here.
After nearly 5 years, Rotary Club of Youngstown is still getting mail to its old address -- and from our members, too! Please update your databases and accounts payable departments that the correct mailing and payment address is for our Club is as follows:

Our District receives Rotary Foundation District Designated Funds each year. This approximately $50K is used to partner with a number of local and international projects by providing small sums as seed-money toward larger Rotary Foundation Global Grants. What a difference we can make in the world through these projects! Learn more about our efforts to help the village of Oholi, India HERE
During the past five years, District 6650 has raised more than $200,000 for The Rotary Foundation to do “Good in the World.” This year District Governor Linda Henderson is adding a new contest to the annual Paul Harris Fellow Challenge with a new promo called Double Your Donation. It will allow donors of $100 or more to GIFT their matching Foundation Points to another Rotarian in their Club. You both receive the donor credit toward your first or next Paul Harris Fellow level! In mid-November, all Rotarians in the District will be receiving a letter further explaining this option.
