Our Weekly Meetings

Last week's meetingWe had the opportunity to learn from a fellow Rotarian from when our speaker Doug Hemmig from C-SPAN Networks logged in virtually from his office in Metro Washington DC. He and his colleague have been using the pandemic year as an opportunity to better educate all of us on C-SPAN's nonprofit mission and its availability as a public resource. If you want to get quick access to that info, you can do so HERE
Since this is a relatively new format, Hemmig would love any feedback that we have by completing this survey.
Finally, as a small token of their appreciation, they'd like to send each of us a FREE copy of their awarding-winning book, The Senate: An Enduring Foundation of Democracy. This book showcases the architectural details and 200-year evolution of the Senate’s ornate hallways, private workspaces, and historic meeting rooms. If interested, let them know here!
This week's speaker:
  .
Justice DeWine from the Ohio Supreme Court will be speaking to our group. More info about the justice here.
RECENT EVENTS

Planting Day 2021
Saturday, June 5, 2021
Youngstown CityScape 24th annual urban beautification day was certainly blessed with perfect weather so that we could do our best work. Rotarians Sharon Letson and Adam Lee lead this effort and assigned us the clean-up of what they call The Bunker -- the planter that contains our Youngstown Rotary Historic Marker on the southside of East Federal Street right Downtown. It was a great way to spend time with our fellow members AND work on a project that truly beautifies the community! See more photos HERE

Have an idea for a Rotary Global Grant project?
A few years ago, District 6650 supported a Rotary Global Grant to provide a classroom-based library for elementary schools in Cam Lo, Quang Tri, Vietnam, under the oversight of PDG Sieglinde Warren and PDG Nguyen Do of D6600.
Now, the District Rotary Foundation Board has agreed to support a new Rotary Global Grant project in Gio Linh district, Quang Tri Province, which will target of 2399 children at 4th and 5th grade levels this year and 3971 children at 1st to 3rd grade levels next year along with approximately 362 education managers, teachers, and librarians.
The District has funds available, and we would love to provide guidance! Share your thoughts with Dr. Peter Apicella, DRFC or Dr. Meena Patel.
