Stories

We are a day late in bringing you this edition because we have some fantastic news to bring you. Two new members have been proposed and accepted by the board. The following individuals were proposed for membership in the Rotary Club of Youngstown. If there are any objections, please notify the editor of the Clatter by August 27th, 2015.

They are: Deanna Marchionda, Sponsor:  Scott Schulick Classification:  Insurance Sales

and: Gayle Catinella  Sponsor:  Becky Keck, Classification: Religion-Episcopal

When you see them, please be sure to imitate them in the super secret handshake taught to me by Ron Faniro which for those of you that don't know, involves a handshake and a general statement that they were "right next to" the grand jackpot ball.

The membership committee has no information that negatively impacts the character, business, social or community standing of the proposed new members.

The Youngstown Rotary Program Committee is looking for interesting and vibrant speakers for our weekly meetings.  Many members have shared ideas, and we’re working on contacting your suggestions. If you have ideas, please forward them to Maureen Drummond atresults@truconsultingllc.com.  Or, feel free to forward Maureen’s contact email to potential speakers.

If you log into Clubrunner, you can see that each month has a specific theme.  We don’t have to adhere to those themes, but it might spark your thoughts on someone who can enlighten us on the designated theme.  You can go directly to the calendar by clicking this link:http://portal.clubrunner.ca/2004/Events/Calendar

Thanks for your assistance in making our club meetings informative!

If you are bringing a guest for a Wednesday meeting, and they are eating lunch, please call Shirley in the office to make sure we have enough food to accommodate. Plus Shirley would love to hear from you. *** Revised. Shirley will let Sandy know in case a bunch of extra food needs prepared or as our dear president put it "add some water to the soup".

What are you doing on Wednesday night? Specifically Wednesday at 5:30pm? I really think you should come to the district mixer at 5:30pm at Trax Lounge (http://www.traxrestaurantandlounge.com/) Located at: 4250 New Rd in Austintown. Six rotary clubs from Mahoning county will be represented as we launch our efforts countywide for Operation Warm Mahoning county. Also the theme is Hawaiian so bring your shirts and your favorite Jimmy Buffet song for impromptu karaoke! Remember, it's best to launch into song in the middle of conversation and blame it on the Mai Tai's! If you're on facebook, say you're going here! (https://www.facebook.com/events/1612089839008082/) We wiill be posting pictures of the event on this page!

So, if you missed last week but attended a different club, or even online and need to record your attendance? Board secretary for the 2015/2016 year has been selected as the Great Stephanie Landers. If any anyone has any attendance issues they can email Stephanie at slanders85@yahoo.com.

Lastly,

Oh man! Don't forget about our meeting on the 26th. THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR IS COMING! Joe Belinsky will join us to discuss the plans for the district. Cancel that meeting between you and your PB&J sandwich and join us.

Mr. Frost joined us this Wednesday to talk about Inspiring Minds, and the fatherless syndrome. What a great organization branching out to Youngstown.

The Rotary Club of Youngstown will be presenting Ditchel Owsley with a Paul Harris Fellowship award for his late grandfather, Charles F. Owsley.  Bill Lawson will open the program with a brief biography of C. F. Owsley, and highlight his career as a prominent local architect and as a co-founder and first President of the Rotary Club of Youngstown.  We will also welcome and recognize several descendants of Charles Owsley in attendance.
