Last Week's Meeting

Happy Birthday Anthony!
Rotarians celebrated Samantha's son Anthony's 5th birthday of with a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday and treats. Anthony helped serve birthday cupcakes to everyone and only dropped one!

Samantha Turner and Kevin Chiu, 2022 Beerfest co-chairs, shared some details about Beerfest, which returns on Saturday, January 29 to Stambaugh Auditorium. This year, we will be able to sell tickets to friends, family, and co-workers without having them go through the Stambaugh ticketing process. Each Rotarian will be given four tickets to sell, with VIP tickets at $70 each and general admission tickets at $50 each. This price includes the $5 fee that Stambaugh charges when their ticketing system is used. Prices are the same regardless so there is consistency with the cost. And we get to keep the additional $5.
The goal this year is to have 25 vendors represented, all from local breweries. Beer vendor chair Troy Rhoades sent out 45 packets of information to the breweries, with 10 of those in nearby Pennsylvania. Do you know of a new brewery? Let Troy know. The vendor participation deadline is Friday, December17.
Scott Schulick, sponsorship chair, is asking that each Rotarian secure one sponsor. He will have sponsor packets prepared in an email format for everyone’s use. Just think of how much money our club could grant to local non-profit organizations if everyone brought in at least one sponsor! We could easily top the $43,000 in grants that were given out in 2020.
As always, lots of volunteers are needed to help make Beerfest a success. Let Mike Latessa know when you’d like to be there. Volunteers sign-up sheets will be available soon.

Citizens’ Climate Education: Children’s Books About Climate Change for Holiday Giving

We know that children are our future. Through our Club’s work with Put Kid’s First, Operation Warm, and Little Free Library we work to provide “our Kids” with tools that will help them make this world of ours a better place.
Here’s a few suggestions of literary gift ideas for young people. These books can help build an awareness of our planet and the climate. Many of these books are also available on Kindle and Audible but don’t forget to check with our PLYMC.

Time for Reindeer Games!

Baby, it’s cold outside! But it will be warm and festive at the SOAP Gallery for the annual Rotary Holiday Party. To up the fun quotient, we are bringing back the popular “Who is That Baby?” guessing game.

It works like this – find a baby picture of yourself from holidays past, then get it to Linda Kostka. You can give me your photo at Wednesday’s meeting or scan & email me a copy. The photos will be hung in the gallery with care, and Rotarians will compete to see how many of those baby faces can be matched to grown-up Rotarians. Winner gets a super duper special prize.

I will need the photos NO LATER THAN Monday, December 13 so I can print and compile them. Emailed photos can be sent to Lkostka@mahoninghistory.org. If you have any questions, give me a call at 330-719-2891.

The holiday party will be held on Wednesday, December 15 at the SOAP Gallery. Details are in the Clatter.

Creating an account on MyRotary will not only give you great information about how you can maximize the impact of your Rotary involvement, it can also help Rotary International by giving them demographic information about you as a Rotarian.  This is also how you get access to the Brand Center, which provides Rotary graphics and instructions about how to properly use them.  Getting an account is simple:
